    Toyota SA announces Fortuner 48V hybrid pricing

    As promised, Toyota South Africa has announced the pricing of the Hilux-based adventure SUV – the Fortuner. Like its stablemate, the Fortuner 48V MHEV is powered by a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine developing 150kW and 500Nm. When fully-charged, the newly added 48V mild-hybrid system adds an additional 12kW and 65Nm resulting in a total system output of 162kW and 565Nm. However, the hybrid setup adds 7.6 kg to its overall weight. Toyota claims the mild-hybrid system will assist in improving the Fortuner’s fuel consumption by 5%.
