Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) announced a bunch of mechanical upgrades for the GR86. TGR also announced a limited special-edition model that augments the GR86’s exterior color lineup with the newly added color Ridge Green and sports exclusive bronze wheels and exclusive interior embroidery. It will be limited to only 200 units.

    GR86 Mechanical upgrades

The upgraded GR86 leverages insights gained by competing in motorsports, in which TGR continues to enter the GR86. Enhancements include improved shock absorber damping characteristics and heightened electric power steering (EPS) control, modified throttle characteristics (for vehicles with a manual transmission), and an expanded engine-speed tolerance range during downshifts (for vehicles with an automatic transmission) for, among others, a better sense of contact with the ground, better steering response, and better linearity.

    GR86  RZ “Ridge Green Limited”

This limited special-edition model sets itself apart with model-specific exterior and interior styling. Outside, the special GR86’s body is finished with Ridge Green paint and its wheels are coated with a bronze paint. Inside, the GR86 RZ Ridge Green gets door panels wrapped with exclusive, limited special-edition embroidery, tan stitching throughout the cabin, cast black paint on the instrument panel and centre console, and perforated black leather seats with tan accents.

On the mechanical side of things, the special-edition model gets upgraded with ventilated Brembo disc brakes and SACHS (ZF) shock absorbers.

    Availability

Sadly, the GR86 RZ Ridge Green will only be sold in the automaker’s home country – Japan. As mentioned above, only 200 units will be built.
