    MG reintroduces itself to South Africa with new model lineup

    MG Motor South Africa is expanding its lineup in 2025, introducing a range of new models aimed at different market segments. The lineup includes the compact MG ZS, the mid-size MG HS, and the high-performance MG Cyberster electric roadster.

    MG ZS

    The MG ZS is designed to offer a balance of practicality, affordability, and reliability. With over a million units sold worldwide, the compact SUV features:

    Engine and efficiency: A 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 84kW and 150Nm, paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox, and a fuel consumption of 7.1L/100km.

    Safety features: Six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill Launch Assist.

    Technology: An 8-inch touchscreen with reverse camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity.

    Storage and comfort: 359L boot capacity (expanding to 1166L) and leatherette upholstery in the Luxury trim.

    The ZS will be available in two variants—Comfort and Luxury—offering a feature-packed option for budget-conscious buyers.

    MG HS

    The MG HS introduces a new design and advanced technology. First showcased at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the HS offers:

    Engine options: A 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 125kW and 275Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 2.0-litre turbocharged option will be available later.

    Interior and technology: A 12.3-inch dual-screen system, virtual cockpit, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, and a panoramic sunroof on the Luxury variant.

    Safety features: A 5-star Euro NCAP rating, seven airbags, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and intelligent cruise assist.

    All-electric MG Cyberster

    MG is celebrating its centenary with the introduction of the Cyberster, an all-electric roadster featuring:

    Performance: Dual electric motors generating 625kW and 725Nm, achieving 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds with a driving range of 443km (WLTP).

    Advanced driving features: Four driving modes, one-pedal drive mode, electronic differential lock, and regenerative braking.

    Design: 20-inch alloy wheels, double-wishbone front suspension, and a sporty silhouette.

    Warranty: A seven-year/250,000km powertrain warranty.

    Future plans for MG in South Africa

    MG Motor South Africa has hinted at expanding its offerings to include hatchbacks, hybrid models, and mainstream electric vehicles. More details on upcoming models and local availability are expected in the near future.
