Back in June 2023, Toyota unveiled the all-new, second-generation C-HR which received major updates and competes in the subcompact crossover SUV segment. Toyota recently revealed the a larger, all-electric version of the C-HR dubbed C-HR+. The C-HR+ is an all-new battery electric model that is set to be a bold, stylish and highly capable competitor at the heart of Europe’s C-SUV BEV market.

Exterior design and styling
Toyota says the exterior design of the new C-HR+ was inspired by its smaller sibling and that’s mostly evident when looking at its front-end which looks somewhat like a stretched carbon copy of the C-HR. That said, apart from the front, the profile and rear-end look heavily inspired by the Lexus RZ.
Exterior standout features of the 4 520 mm long C-HR+ include C-shaped full-LED headlights, a sculpted bonnet, a contrasting roof, contrasting wheel arch cladding and side skirts, sharp body lines, large alloy wheels, full-LED taillights with an integrated LED light strip and a large contrasting rear bumper.

Interior design and technology
Inside, the design of the C-HR+ isn’t as modern and exciting when compared with the second-gen C-HR, instead it’s a bit grown up and logically laid out. Highlights include a massive 14.1-inch touch display on the centre of the dashboard with an infotainment system which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a navigation system with dedicated EV routing, a small sized digital instrument cluster, a multifunctional steering wheel with a plethora of buttons, a rotary dial gear selector, wireless charging pads, ambient lighting and a JBL sound system.
Advanced driver assistance systems
All versions benefit from extensive Toyota T-Mate features, including Toyota Safety Sense active safety and driver assistance systems. A number of advanced features are provided as standard, including a Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive High-beam System headlights and Parking Support Brake. Park Assist and a Panoramic View Monitor are included in the High grade specification.
Power and performance
The Toyota C-HR+ will not be a one-size fits-all proposition. Recognising different customer needs and priorities, Toyota will offer two different battery options. A 57.7 kWh (gross capacity) unit will be exclusive to the front-wheel drive model and a higher capacity 77 kWh battery will be available for both front and all-wheel drive powertrains.
The AWD version is expected to deliver a prodigious 252 kW, enabling a claimed 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. The front-wheel drive model with the 57.7 kWh battery will offer 123 kW; opting for the 77 kWh battery increases the output to 165 kW.
Maximum range according to WLTP drive cycle is up to 600km (tentative value pending homologation), depending on grade and powertrain. An 11 kW onboard charger is provided as standard, with a 22 kW unit provided from High grade. Fast DC charging can achieve speeds of up to 150 kW.
