The Tata Punch has officially gone on sale in South Africa with five derivatives on offer.

    Design and features

The compact SUV features Tata’s signature grille, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, protective cladding and roof rails. At the rear, bold LED taillights complete the look. Inside, the Punch offers a dual-tone dashboard, flat floor, 366-litre boot capacity, and depending on the derivative, a floating 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a cooled glovebox.

A notable feature is the 90-degree door opening for easier access. Safety equipment includes ABS with EBD, stability control, dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a five-star Global NCAP rating.

    Performance

All models are powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 65 kW and 115 Nm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission. Ground clearance is rated at 187 mm, with Eco and City drive modes available.
