Mazda has taken the wraps off its latest electric model, the all-new Mazda EZ-60, at the 2025 Shanghai International Auto Show. This sleek electric crossover SUV is the second product born from Mazda’s partnership with Changan Mazda Motor Corporation—the joint venture between Mazda and Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd.—following the successful launch of the EZ-6.

With the EZ-60, Mazda is showing that it’s serious about its electric future. The new model blends the brand’s timeless design language with futuristic technology, while still delivering the engaging driving experience Mazda is known for.

    Sleek and futuristic

The Mazda EZ-60 was designed under the philosophy “Future+ Soul x Modern.” In simple terms, this means a car that still carries Mazda’s emotional, human-centered design cues but with sharper, more futuristic lines. The SUV wears a clean and elegant profile, with smooth surfacing that gives it a sophisticated presence. Clever aerodynamic touches, such as air passages integrated into the hood, not only add to its visual appeal but also improve efficiency and range. It’s a design that manages to be bold without being over the top – very much in line with Mazda’s design DNA.

    The exterior dimensions of the EZ-60 are as follows: 4,850 mm (L) x 1,935 mm (W) x 1,620 mm (H). It’s also equipped with 21-inch alloy wheels.

    High-tech meets comfort

Inside, the EZ-60 feels like a perfect blend of technology and warmth. The first thing that grabs your attention is the 26.45-inch 5K flat-panel display, which dominates the dashboard and is supported by a 3D heads-up display projecting key driving information into the driver’s line of sight. The cabin is also a treat for audiophiles, thanks to a 23-speaker 3D audio system that includes headrest speakers for each seat.

    Electric performance

Mazda has worked hard to ensure the EZ-60 stays true to its core philosophy of Jinba-Ittai – the feeling of unity between driver and car. To achieve this, the crossover features an ideal 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, supported by a strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension setup. The addition of electronically controlled dampers means the vehicle can adapt to changing road conditions, delivering both comfort and stability.

Customers will also be able to choose between a fully electric version and a plug-in hybrid. The Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) variant is expected to deliver a driving range of around 600 kilometres, while the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) should offer more than 1,000 kilometres per refuel. These options make the EZ-60 practical for both daily use and long-distance travel, catering to a wide range of driving needs.

    Safety and convenience

Technology is another area where the EZ-60 shines. Mazda has equipped it with a Smart Cabin system that responds to voice, touch, and even gesture commands, allowing for a more intuitive connection between driver and car. Safety is also a priority, with the EZ-60’s advanced driver assistance features working to prevent collisions or at least reduce their severity. On top of that, convenience has been enhanced with an intelligent parking function that lets drivers park the SUV using voice commands from outside the vehicle—a handy feature for tight spaces and urban driving.

    Availability

According to Mazda, the automaker has recorded over 40 000 pre-orders for the EZ-60. It will be sold in markets like China, Europe and North America. The EZ-60 will be known as the CX-6e in some markets.
