Alfa Romeo updates the Tonale with sharper design and improved dynamics

Alfa Romeo has introduced an updated version of the Tonale, refining its first compact SUV with subtle styling tweaks, interior improvements, and updated technology.

    Refreshed design

The updated Tonale keeps its familiar shape but gains a few design adjustments to sharpen its presence. There’s a wider stance, a new concave Alfa Romeo badge, and reworked front detailing inspired by models like the 33 Stradale. New 19 and 20-inch wheel options add a sportier edge, while the color palette now includes three fresh metallic finishes: Rosso Brera, Verde Monza, and Giallo Ocra. Buyers can also opt for a contrasting black roof.

    Cabin and features

Inside, Alfa Romeo has lifted the overall feel with new materials and finishes. Red leather and two-tone Alcantara trims are now available, and the center console gets a cleaner gear selector design. Updated ambient lighting and added touches like heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and wireless charging bring the cabin in line with what you would expect from a modern premium SUV.

The dual-screen setup remains, with a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, both supporting wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and over-the-air updates.

    Driving and performance

Underneath, Alfa Romeo says it has fine-tuned the Tonale’s suspension and hybrid systems for smoother transitions between petrol and electric power. The range continues with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and diesel options, with outputs up to 201 kW for the top-spec plug-in Q4 version. The SUV retains its sharp steering, Brembo brakes, and balanced chassis, which are key traits of Alfa Romeo’s driving character.

    Trim levels

The Tonale line-up continues with familiar versions: Tonale, Sprint, Ti, and Veloce, while a special Sport Speciale edition leads the range with additional visual and feature upgrades.

    The bottom line

Rather than a complete overhaul, this update focuses on design details, interior quality, and subtle mechanical improvements, keeping the brand’s smallest SUV fresh in a competitive premium segment.
