We recently spent time with the facelifted Haval H6 1.5T HEV Ultra Luxury, a model that builds on the strengths of one of South Africa’s most popular SUVs.
The update brings a larger grille, redesigned LED headlights with teardrop-style daytime running lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, and new LED taillights. While the front end remains a real attention-grabber, we can’t help but miss the distinctive “RoboCop” light bar of the pre-facelift model.

Inside, the H6 continues to impress with a spacious and premium-feeling cabin. A large 14.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto takes centre stage, while a panoramic sunroof and upgraded nine-speaker Amor sound system add to the experience.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 179kW and 530Nm. The hybrid system is matched to Haval’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), which delivers smooth and refined performance on the road.

Efficiency remains one of the H6 HEV’s strongest selling points. The vehicle arrived showing a range of around 1,000km and, during our time behind the wheel, we achieved an impressive average fuel consumption figure of 5.6L/100km.
Verdict
Combined with its comfortable ride, strong efficiency, and well-equipped cabin, the updated H6 HEV remains a compelling choice for buyers looking for a practical and refined family SUV.
