BMW is preparing to unveil the all-new, next-generation X5, codenamed G65, on June 30, 2026. The luxury SUV is expected to arrive in global showrooms as a 2027 model, with customer deliveries beginning towards the end of 2026 or early 2027.

The new X5 introduces a fresh design inspired by BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse models.

At the front, the X5 takes styling cues from the upcoming iX3 (NA0), featuring a more upright kidney grille flanked by slim headlights with distinctive dual LED light signatures. New wing-style door handles, mounted high on the beltline, further reinforce the SUV’s Neue Klasse-inspired design.

Viewed from the side, the X5 retains its familiar proportions but adopts smoother body lines and more sculpted surfaces for a cleaner, more modern appearance. The reduced character lines give the luxury SUV a more refined presence.

At the rear, the new X5 features slim taillights connected by a full-width LED light bar. An inverted V-shaped lighting signature further distinguishes the SUV’s new design language.

Inside, BMW has completely redesigned the cabin. The new X5 will feature the latest iDrive X infotainment system and Panoramic Vision display, which projects key information across the base of the windscreen. An optional third row of seats will continue to be available for buyers who require additional practicality.

Under the bonnet, the X5 range is expected to include petrol and diesel engines with 48V mild-hybrid technology, plug-in hybrid variants, and fully electric iX5 models. BMW has also confirmed that the next-generation X5 will adopt the brand’s new electrical and software architecture, supporting its latest infotainment and driver assistance technologies.

The next-generation X5 will also introduce BMW’s new “Heart of Joy” control system, which manages the powertrain, steering, braking, and energy recuperation far more quickly than previous systems. According to BMW, the technology is designed to improve agility, efficiency, and overall driving refinement.

The next-generation X5 marks another step in BMW’s shift towards electrification and software-defined vehicles. With a new design, updated technology, and a broad range of powertrain options, the G65 X5 is expected to remain one of the brand’s most important models.
