Trailarent is one of South Africa’s leading rental companies with 15 branches across the nation. The rental company has procured 50 JAC X200 forward-cab workhorses to add to its offering of bakkies, vans, cars and trailers. According to JAC Motors, 25 of these units have been delivered and are already operating. The growing market for bakkie rentals necessitated Trailarent to increase its workhorse fleet with reliable and economical hardworking bakkies that will deal with the demands of many different drivers renting the units for various jobs.

    Performance

Powering the JAC X200 is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing 80 kW and 240 Nm torque between. According to JAC, the maximum torque available at low rpm allows drivers to minimise gear changes, reducing fuel usage. The average combined fuel consumption of the JAC X200 is 9.5l/100 km.

The JAC X200 benefits from the company’s new chassis stamping and welding treatment process, developed for the heavy-duty ladder-frame chassis used in its N-Series truck range. Its ladder-frame chassis design is said to be robust while the double-wishbone independent front suspension and the optimum use of axle capacities for ideal payload weight distribution are said to ensure safe driving characteristics in all load states and on any road surface.

    Interior

Inside, the X200 features air-conditioning, cloth seats and a height-adjustable steering wheel. The centre seat’s backrest folds down for ample stowing space. The X200 comes standard with a Radio/MP3 player with Bluetooth and a USB port.

    Accessories

A full range of accessories are available for the JAC X-Series product range. Consumers can ask their nearest dealer for more information about other body configurations, e.g. tippers, refrigeration units, campers etc.

    Pricing and warranty

The X-Series product range comprises four derivatives, all priced under R300 000 (VAT excl.):

    X200 2.8L TDI CC 1.5-tonne – R252,087

    X200 2.8L TDI DS 1.5-tonne (A/C standard) – R276,000

    X200 2.8L TDI Double-cab CC 1.3-tonne (ABS, A/C & E/W standard) – R280,348

    X200 2.8L TDI Double-cab DS 1.3-tonne (ABS, A/C & E/W standard) – R293,392

The JAC X200 is sold and serviced by JAC Motors’ 65 dealers countrywide, in Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini. It comes standard with the company’s 5-year/150 000-kilometre manufacturer warranty, including a 5-year/60 000-kilometre service plan.
