At this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS), Mitsubishi Motors has yet again facelifted their Pajero Sport with a bunch of exterior and interior cosmetic updates, and a new engine sourced from the upcoming Triton bakkie.

Pajero Sport Elite Edition exterior and interior

On the outside, the Pajero Sport Elite Edition looks quite identical to the Pajero Sport Aspire launched in SA a couple of years ago. That said, the Elite Edition sports a redesigned gloss black radiator grille and bumper valance, black ‘Pajero Sport’ lettering on the bonnet, black mirror caps, a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels finished with a black coat, a black roof with black roof rails, an integrated black spoiler.

Inside, the Elite Edition gets a newly designed three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel from the new Triton. The seven-seater SUV also gets newly designed heat-reflecting synthetic leather seats with quilted design and a contrasting burgundy colour on the seats, door panel and centre console.

Pajero Sport Elite Edition assistance systems

The Elite Edition is equipped with a Diamond Sense all-around advanced safety technology which includes raft of advanced assistance systems like blind spot warning with lane change assist, forward collision mitigation, rear cross traffic alert, ultrasonic misacceleration, adaptive cruise control, auto headlight leveling and tyre pressure monitoring system to name a few.

    Pajero Sport powertrain

Underneath the bonnet, the Pajero Sport Elite Edition is still powered by a four-cylinder 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine code-named 4N16. Power has increased from 133kW to 135kW while the torque output remains at 430Nm between 2 250 and 2 500 rpm. The powerplant is paired with a 6-speed auto transmission and is available in both 2WD and 4WD.

    Availability

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa is yet to confirm local availability.
