BMW has revealed the updated 7 Series Sedan, bringing what the brand calls its most extensive model update yet to its flagship luxury sedan. The refreshed line-up introduces new styling, upgraded technology and improvements across petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and fully electric models.

The new 7 Series adopts BMW’s latest luxury design language, with a more monolithic look, a redesigned illuminated kidney grille and slimmer crystal headlights. New rear lights and cleaner body lines give it a more modern appearance, while buyers will also have the option of 22-inch wheels for the first time. BMW says the new design is aimed at giving the sedan a stronger road presence while keeping the elegance expected in this segment.

Inside, the cabin gets major upgrades with BMW Panoramic iDrive and the debut of the new BMW Passenger Screen, alongside an upgraded Theatre Screen for rear passengers. The luxury focus remains strong with features such as the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, ambient lighting, panoramic glass roof, Executive Lounge seating, four-zone climate control and Dolby Atmos audio support. The goal is to make the 7 Series feel just as rewarding from the back seat as it does from behind the wheel.

The range will be offered with several powertrain options, including the BMW 740, 740d xDrive, M760e xDrive plug-in hybrid and the fully electric i7 xDrive50. BMW says the updated i7 now offers more than 600km of electric range thanks to sixth-generation battery technology and improved cylindrical battery cells, while the combustion models continue with 48V mild-hybrid support for improved efficiency.

Advanced driver assistance systems have also been improved, with expanded safety features, upgraded parking assistance and more AI-supported functions aimed at making both driving and being driven more comfortable. Standard adaptive air suspension and optional chassis upgrades continue to balance luxury comfort with the sharp driving dynamics expected from a BMW flagship.

The new BMW 7 Series will make its global debut on 22 April 2026, with the South African market launch expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
