Audi South Africa has expanded its A1 Sportback range with the introduction of a new S line derivative, priced from R549,000.

The addition of the S line model sits between the existing Advanced and Black Edition variants, giving buyers another option in the compact hatch segment. The A1 range now consists of three trims: Advanced, S line and Black Edition.

The new S line brings a slightly sportier look and a few added features compared to the entry-level Advanced model. It includes sport seats, full LED headlights with rear light upgrades, a unique 17-inch wheel design and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

The rest of the range remains unchanged. The Advanced model continues as the entry point, offering features such as the Audi virtual cockpit, smartphone connectivity, a sound system and 17-inch alloy wheels.

At the top of the line-up, the Black Edition focuses more on styling and added convenience, with a black styling package, park assist and similar lighting upgrades.

Audi says the introduction of the S line is aimed at strengthening the overall value of the A1 range as it moves through the later stages of its lifecycle.

    Pricing is as follows:

    Audi A1 Advanced – R530,900

    Audi A1 S line – R549,000

    Audi A1 Black Edition – R593,390
