JAC Motors South Africa has introduced the new T8 2.0L CTi Comfort 4×2 double cab, priced at R349,900, making it the lowest-priced double cab currently on sale in South Africa. The new derivative is aimed at fleet operators, small businesses and buyers looking for a practical workhorse without stretching the budget.

Power comes from JAC’s 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, producing 104kW and 320Nm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The brand claims an average fuel consumption of 6.5L/100km, while testing at Gerotek recorded figures as low as 6.1L/100km at 115km/h. With a 76-litre fuel tank, JAC says the T8 can deliver a range of around 1,100km.

The T8 is built on a ladder-frame chassis with double-wishbone front suspension and a leaf-spring rear setup. It offers a 900kg payload, a braked towing capacity of 2,000kg and 210mm of ground clearance, making it suitable for both business and everyday use.

Standard safety features include driver and passenger airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring and rear park sensors. The cabin also includes cruise control, air conditioning, leatherette seats, electric windows, a multifunction steering wheel and a six-speaker audio system.

The full T8 range is priced as follows:

    T8 2.0L CTi 4×2 Comfort – R349,900

    T8 2.0L CTi 4×2 Lux – R399,900

    T8 2.0L CTi 4×4 Lux – R449,900

The entry-level Comfort model comes with a 5-year/100,000km warranty and roadside assistance, while the higher-spec Lux models include a 5-year/200,000km warranty and a 5-year/100,000km service plan.
