Citroen C3 Aircross SUV debuts in South Africa

Citroen is back in South Africa and kicks things off with the C3, C5 SUV and C3 Aircross SUV. The latter is based on the C3 and an urban SUV (think Polo-based VW T-Cross) for those looking for more space and practicality than that which is available in hatches.

    Exterior styling

Outside, the new Citroen C3 Aircross SUV spots a high bonnet line that is underlined by chrome-finished Cetroen chevrons and flanked by LED Daytime Running Lights. Additionally, the SUV features Citroen’s graphic signature using two tiered lights.

At the back, features include rear quarterlights that are made of polycarbonate with a shutter-effect design in the centre. The 3D-effect rear lights bear a familiar resemblance with C3 and C-Aircross concept car.

There are three colour options on offer, namely White, Platinum Grey and Soft Sand. The Spicy Orange Pack is available on all three colour options.

The C3 Aircross is fitted with 16” alloy wheels with the option of stylish 17-inch diamond-effect aluminium wheels on the Shine model.

    Interior

Inside and on the Shine model, a 7-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard. The infotainment system’s Mirror Screen function includes Android Auto, Apple Car Play and MirrorLink.

Practicality is ensured by split rear sliding seats. Their availability means boot’s standard volume of 410 litres can be increased to 520 litres (on the Shine model). Total load volume with the rear seats folded down is an impressive 1,289 litres. Ensuring maximum practicality, the Citroën C3 Aircross SUV also features a removable luggage shelf that can be stored in a vertical position behind the rear bench for transporting tall objects. A further selling point is the dual-height mobile boot floor which provides a flat floor when the rear seats are folded down.

    Engine

The new Citroen C3 Aircross Compact SUV is available with a 1.2 PureTech turbo-petrol engine that makes 81kW/205 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The fuel consumption is claimed to be a combined 6,5l/100 km.

    Price

Pricing of the new Citroen C3 Aircross Compact SUV is as follows:

    Feel 1.2 PureTech 81kW Turbo Auto R339,900

    Shine 1.2 PureTech 81kW Turbo Auto R359,900

Prices include a 5 year / 100,000 km warranty and service plan.
