    Launched: all-new Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe

Look before we even go far, I will admit that I have crushed on the Porsche 911 for as long as I could remember. So when the invite to attend the launch of the new 911 Turbo S, it was a no brainer that I would on the flight to Cape Town to meet my crush and see if its love or lust.

    Looks

Porsche has increased the dimensions of the Turbo S to enhance the driving dynamics with a wider body of about 45mm above the front axle. It terms of looks, the 911 Turbo S has a new front end with dual flight modules as well as standard LED matrix headlights and a standout rear wing. Inside, you are met by a full leather interior with carbon trim in combination with Light Silver accents.

    What is like to drive?

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is nothing short of a great car. The engineers at Porsche have managed to do some amazing work on making the latest 911 Turbo S making it the quickest and most powerful ever. Under the hood of the 91m1 Turbo S is a new 3.8-litre flat-six engine with two VTG turbochargers that help the car make 478kW of power and 800Nm of torque. That is 51kW and 50Nm more than its predecessor.  The engine is paired with a Turbo-specific eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission. As a result of this, the 911 Turbo S will do the 0-100kph sprint in just 2.7 seconds and has a top speed of 330kph. It is 0.2 seconds faster to 0-100kph then the previous-generation.

The 911 Turbo S is ridiculously fast but the Turbo S has to be more than that and the latest iteration is no exception providing a perfect blend of acceleration and handling. The latter is partly thanks to the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The PDK compliments the engine very well as it provides quick and well timed changes, and to be honest, I can’t imagine the Turbo S with any other transmission.

    Living with it daily?

The 911 Turbo S will no doubt easily go up against some capable super and even hyper cars but its ace up its sleeve is that it isas comfortable around town as it capable on race track. It is quite enjoyable to cruise around in at normal speeds. There’s ample head and shoulder room for the driver and front passenger. The rear seats have enough seating space for children (if the bench option is ticked).

The 911 Turbo S is actually an impressive all-rounder that is priced from R3,849,000 for the Coupe and at R4,049,000 for the Cabriolet.
