Taycan flavoured 2022 Audi E-Tron GT revealed

Audi has revealed the all-new Audi e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT models. The Audi e-tron GT range is based on the Porsche Taycan’s J1 platform. Both are powered by dual electric motors, one on each axle.

    Sheer power

The GT Quattro produces 350kW and 630Nm whilst the RS develops 440kW and 830Nm.  Both have an over-boost function providing temporary (35 and 40 kW, respectively) power. The latter will move from 0-100km/h in 4,1 seconds whilst the latter will smash the same distance in a mere 3,3 seconds.

Under the metal is a 93.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack and 800V technology that enables fast DC charging (5 – 80% capacity in 23 minutes) with an output of up to 270 kW. Maximum range is estimated to be up to 487 km (on the WLTP cycle).

Audi says the suspension balances dynamism and comfort, thanks to technologies such as Audi drive select, all-wheel steering, controlled damping, three-chamber air suspension, electric all-wheel drive, and the rear-axle differential lock. The wheel sizes range up to 21 inches, and the brake disks – which are available in carbon-fibre ceramic as an option – have a diameter of up to 420 millimetres.

    Size and interior

The e-tron GT has length of 4.99 meter; width of 1.96 meters and height of just 1.41 meters. The luggage compartment measures 405 litres in the rear (366 litres in the RS model).

Like the Taycan, the styling is exquisite and the LED lights play a big role in this. Matrix LED headlights are standard in the RS e-tron GT and available as an option with the e-tron GT Quattro. Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light are available as an option for both models; they double the range of the high beam lights. Rear lights with a light band; dynamic coming home and leaving home animations in combination with the top-of-the-range headlights are also on offer.

Like all Audi models, the e-tron GT is said to be extensively connected. The infotainment, the online services from Audi connect, and the assist systems are claimed to be state-of-the-art. This claim is not hard to believe based on the latest interiors that Audi has been dishing out.

Local availability is yet to be confirmed.
