Isuzu SA has announced that the company will continue to build key models of the sixth generation D-Max alongside the new D-Max. This comes just before the launch the long-awaited seventh generation D-MAX in South Africa, and export markets within the continent.

    Five model strategy

Known as GEN 6, the sixth generation D-Max, will be offered with five models in South Africa, four models in right hand drive export markets, and three models in left hand drive markets.

Dominic Rimmer, Senior Vice President Technical Operations, says “Our strategy is to support Isuzu’s objectives by retaining GEN 6 models which have performed very well in the workhorse segment of the market. In addition to boosting our fleet business, we intend to increase LCV exports into key left and right-hand drive markets within the Rest of Africa.”

    Power

The GEN 6 D-max will continue to use two of Isuzu’s trusted engines, namely the 2.5 litre LEED and 2.5 litre High Output engines. They produce 58 kW/176 Nm and 100 kW/320 Nm respectively.
