Volkswagen has confirmed that the all-new T-Roc will launch in South Africa in the second half of 2026, expanding the brand’s compact SUV offering locally. The new T-Roc joins Volkswagen’s T-SUV family, which includes the Taigo, T-Cross, Tiguan, Tayron and Touareg, and is positioned between the Taigo and Tiguan.

Now in its second generation, the T-Roc is based on the latest evolution of Volkswagen’s MQB evo platform. This architecture allows the model to adopt technology previously reserved for larger SUVs such as the Tiguan and Tayron, including updated driver assistance systems and digital features.

The new T-Roc has grown in size, with an overall length of 4,373 mm, which is 122 mm longer than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also increased to 2,631 mm, contributing to improved interior space. Luggage capacity has grown by 30 litres, bringing total boot volume to 475 litres when loaded to the rear seatbacks.

Design updates include revised front and rear styling, new LED lighting signatures and illuminated Volkswagen logos. The optional IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are paired with an additional high-performance main beam, while the rear features a full-width LED light strip.

Inside, the T-Roc introduces upgraded materials and a revised dashboard layout. Features carried over from larger models include the latest Digital Cockpit Pro, an optional windscreen head-up display and updated driving experience controls with an integrated TFT display. Volkswagen also highlights increased use of recycled materials, with around 20 percent of plastics made from recycled sources.

Seating comfort has been improved, with an optional 14-way electrically adjustable ergoActive seat with massage function available on R-Line models. Alloy wheels measuring up to 20 inches are also offered.

Further details on engine options, specifications and pricing for the South African market will be confirmed closer to the local launch.
