Range Rover has introduced a new ultra-limited model for the local market, the SV Platinum Edition. Only five examples have been commissioned, all reserved exclusively for South Africa.

The edition takes its inspiration from platinum, a metal closely associated with the country. The theme runs through both the exterior and interior, with a focus on materials, finishes and local artistry rather than performance changes alone.

    Exterior detailing

The SV Platinum Edition is finished in a bespoke Platinum Satin body colour. Silver Chrome and Graphite Atlas accents form part of the exterior pack, while unique script badging distinguishes it from other SV models.

A contrasting gold roof adds another layer of detail, matched by gold script and 23-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels featuring Satin Gold inserts. The result is a specification that leans into jewellery-like precision rather than overt sportiness.

    Interior and local influence

Inside, the cabin combines Perlino leather with earth-toned Caraway leather, creating a warm contrast. Silver noble chrome accents and a natural cream Ash Burr veneer complete the material palette.

The most distinctive element, however, is the bespoke embroidery. The seat detailing and scatter cushions draw inspiration from traditional wooden block-printing techniques associated with the Limpopo province. The geometric stitching pattern reflects local craft heritage and extends to the treadplates, adding a uniquely South African touch to the otherwise global Range Rover design language.

    Technology and performance

As with other SV models, the Platinum Edition includes Rear Body-And-Soul-Seat and Sensory Floor technology, which allows occupants to feel audio feedback through both the seats and floor mats.

Standard features also include a ClearSight interior rear-view mirror, four-zone climate control, soft-close doors and a powered gesture tailgate.

Under the bonnet sits a 452kW V8 engine, supported by electronic air suspension with Dynamic Response Pro, an Electronic Active Differential with torque vectoring, configurable driving programs and adaptive off-road cruise control. While this edition centres on craftsmanship and exclusivity, it retains the full performance and capability expected of a flagship Range Rover.

    Availability and pricing

Priced at R6,223,000, the Range Rover SV Platinum Edition will be available only in South Africa, with just five units allocated.
