Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new VLE, an electric luxury people mover that combines limousine-like comfort with the practicality of a multi-purpose vehicle. It is the first model to be built on the brand’s new Van Architecture, which will underpin the next generation of Mercedes-Benz vans.

The VLE is designed to accommodate up to eight passengers and will be offered in several configurations, from family-focused transport to premium shuttle services.

At launch, the range will include the VLE 300 electric, producing 203kW and offering a claimed driving range of more than 700km (WLTP). A more powerful VLE 400 4MATIC version with all-wheel drive and more than 300kW will follow.

Both models use a new battery with 115kWh of usable capacity and support 800-volt charging technology. Under ideal conditions, the system can add up to 355km of range in around 15 minutes.

The VLE introduces a new design direction for Mercedes-Benz vans, with a streamlined body and a drag coefficient of 0.25 to improve efficiency. The front features a reworked grille design and distinctive lighting signature, while the roofline flows smoothly into the rear to create a more aerodynamic silhouette.

Inside, the focus is on flexibility and comfort. Seating can be configured for between five and eight passengers, with several individual seat options available. Mercedes-Benz’s “Roll & Go” system allows the manually operated seats to slide along the floor, lock into position or be removed entirely to increase cargo capacity.

Electrically adjustable seats can also be repositioned via the infotainment system or the Mercedes-Benz mobile app, allowing owners to switch between different seating layouts depending on whether the focus is passengers, luggage or a mix of both.

Technology also plays a major role in the VLE. The vehicle introduces Mercedes-Benz’s new MB.OS operating system, which integrates infotainment, vehicle functions and driver assistance systems while enabling over-the-air updates.

Up front, the cabin can be equipped with the MBUX Superscreen, which combines three displays under a single glass surface. Rear passengers can access an optional retractable 31.3-inch panoramic display that allows them to watch films, play games or take part in video conferences.

Other highlights include AIRMATIC air suspension, rear-axle steering for improved manoeuvrability, a large panoramic roof and electric sliding doors on both sides.

Mercedes-Benz says the VLE represents the next step in its electric van strategy, combining efficiency, digital technology and flexible interior space in a single vehicle.
