The Festival of Motoring will return to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 28 to 30 August 2026, marking the ninth edition of the event.

Organised by Messe Frankfurt South Africa and powered by WesBank, the festival has become a regular fixture on the local automotive calendar. The event typically combines new vehicle displays, driving experiences and motorsport demonstrations over three days.

    Track drives and test areas

A major focus of the festival remains its interactive driving experiences. Visitors will once again have the opportunity to drive vehicles on the Kyalami circuit, with organisers expecting more than 10,000 track drives during the event. Over 20 automotive brands are expected to participate.

A self-handling track will also be available, allowing visitors to test the braking, handling and stability systems of more than 40 vehicles in a controlled environment.

For those interested in off-road vehicles, the 4×4 Village will feature an obstacle course where several SUV and bakkie brands will demonstrate their vehicles’ off-road capabilities.

    Motorsport demonstrations

The main circuit will host several motorsport activities and demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Among these is the Sunbet ZX10 Masters Cup, a motorcycle racing series featuring Kawasaki ZX10R superbikes. Other on-track features will include demonstration runs by Formula One-style cars and a time-attack competition known as the Vilaca Racing Speed Challenge, which will feature performance cars such as the Audi RS3, Toyota Supra MK5 and Porsche 911 GT3.

The BMW M Performance Parts Race Series will also form part of the programme.

Another feature planned for the event is a Simola Hillclimb Experience, which will bring elements of the well-known Knysna hillclimb event to Kyalami.

    Additional Activities

Away from the main circuit, the event will also include areas dedicated to automotive culture and lifestyle.

Car clubs will showcase vehicles as part of the Show and Shine display, while several automotive accessory and lifestyle brands will host exhibits in the retail section.

A new Adventure Zone will offer activities such as drifting experiences and karting, available to visitors who want to take part in additional driving activities.

    Visitor Facilities

The 2026 event will introduce separate hospitality areas, including spaces designed for families as well as premium suites aimed at adult visitors and corporate guests.

    An industry gathering

Organisers say the festival continues to serve as a meeting point for manufacturers, enthusiasts and potential buyers.

With driving experiences, motorsport demonstrations and vehicle displays taking place across the Kyalami venue, the 2026 Festival of Motoring is expected to once again attract a large number of visitors to the circuit.
