Toyota South Africa has updated the Land Cruiser 70 Series, with changes focused on ownership, engine options and simplifying the overall range.

The biggest update is the addition of a standard service plan across the entire line-up. This now covers up to 9 services or 90,000km for most models, while the 4.2-litre diesel derivatives get up to 18 services due to shorter intervals. The range continues to be sold with a 3-year/100,000km warranty.

Toyota has also made changes to the engine line-up. The 4.5-litre V8 diesel in the pick-up models has been discontinued, with more focus now placed on the 2.8-litre GD turbo-diesel. This engine produces 150kW, with up to 500Nm in automatic models and 450Nm in manual variants.

A new addition to the range is the Land Cruiser 79 2.8 GD double cab manual, giving buyers another option alongside the existing automatic version.

The rest of the line-up remains familiar, with three main body styles still available. These include the Single Cab for work-focused use, the Double Cab for a mix of work and everyday practicality, and the Station Wagon for those looking for a more traditional off-road SUV setup.

Other engine options continue alongside the 2.8 GD, including the 4.0-litre V6 petrol and the 4.2-litre naturally aspirated diesel, depending on the model.
