    Toyota refreshes Land Cruiser 70 with new engine focus and service plan

    Toyota South Africa has updated the Land Cruiser 70 Series, with changes focused on ownership, engine options and simplifying the overall range.

    The biggest update is the addition of a standard service plan across the entire line-up. This now covers up to 9 services or 90,000km for most models, while the 4.2-litre diesel derivatives get up to 18 services due to shorter intervals. The range continues to be sold with a 3-year/100,000km warranty.

    Toyota has also made changes to the engine line-up. The 4.5-litre V8 diesel in the pick-up models has been discontinued, with more focus now placed on the 2.8-litre GD turbo-diesel. This engine produces 150kW, with up to 500Nm in automatic models and 450Nm in manual variants.

    A new addition to the range is the Land Cruiser 79 2.8 GD double cab manual, giving buyers another option alongside the existing automatic version.

    The rest of the line-up remains familiar, with three main body styles still available. These include the Single Cab for work-focused use, the Double Cab for a mix of work and everyday practicality, and the Station Wagon for those looking for a more traditional off-road SUV setup.

    Other engine options continue alongside the 2.8 GD, including the 4.0-litre V6 petrol and the 4.2-litre naturally aspirated diesel, depending on the model.
