Mazda Southern Africa has updated the Mazda2 for 2026, giving its compact hatchback a few styling tweaks, more standard features and improved value across the range.
The biggest change comes in the entry-level Active model, which now gets features that were previously reserved for higher-spec versions. This includes a 7-inch display with MZD Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making the base model feel far less basic than before.
Mazda has also given the Active derivative a slightly fresher look with 15-inch two-tone steel wheels, yellow front and rear grille accents, and a coloured interior panel finish that adds a bit more personality to the cabin.

Powering the range is the same naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 85kW and 148Nm. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic, depending on the derivative.
The range starts with the Mazda2 1.5 Active MT, which now adds better connectivity, power-fold mirrors and the updated styling details.
Stepping up to the Mazda2 1.5 Dynamic AT, buyers get a 6-speed automatic transmission, 15-inch alloy wheels, side and curtain airbags, leather-wrapped steering elements, cruise control and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

At the top sits the Mazda2 1.5 Individual AT, which adds smart keyless entry, automatic climate control, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, wireless charging, a head-up display, paddle shifters, 16-inch machined alloy wheels and a black-and-red interior finish.
Across the range, standard features include ABS with EBD and EBA, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, dual front airbags, LED headlamps, push-start ignition, power windows, adjustable steering and electronic stability control.
As with the rest of Mazda’s local line-up, the Mazda2 comes with a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty, a 3-year service plan and 5 years of roadside assistance.
