Mitsubishi Motors SA expands 2026 Triton range with new Bi-Turbo and GLS models

By Khulekani On Wheels / on July 15th, 2026 / in Car News, featured

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has expanded its 2026 Triton bakkie range with the introduction of the new Triton Bi-Turbo and Triton GLS. The new models are designed to offer local buyers more choice while adding improved performance, technology, and comfort.

    Sportier design

The new Triton Bi-Turbo features a bolder, more rugged appearance. It retains Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield front design, which incorporates a large three-dimensional grille, pronounced fenders, and a redesigned lower protector.

Up front, the Triton features distinctive L-shaped LED daytime running lights and three-element LED headlights, while the rear is fitted with T-shaped taillights that emphasise the vehicle’s wide stance.

Standard exterior features include roof rails, a styling bar, heated door mirrors, and an assisted tailgate for easier access to the load bin.

    More power

The biggest upgrade comes under the bonnet. The Triton Bi-Turbo is powered by a revised 2.4-litre 4N16 DI-DC bi-turbo diesel engine producing 150kW at 3,500rpm and 470Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,750rpm.

Its two-stage turbocharging system uses a smaller turbocharger for improved low-speed response and a larger turbocharger to deliver stronger performance at higher engine speeds.

    Improved interior

Inside, the Triton Bi-Turbo offers a more premium cabin with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, synthetic leather seats with suede inserts and quilting, and carpeted flooring.

The infotainment system has also been upgraded with a nine-inch touchscreen, a seven-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker sound system.

Other comfort features include dual-zone climate control, vanity mirrors with covers, an upper glove box, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

    Warranty and service plan

Every Mitsubishi Triton is sold with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, a five-year/90,000km service plan, and five years of unlimited-mileage roadside assistance.
