We recently spent time behind the wheel of the Hyundai Creta N Line on launch, and it feels like a more convincing performance-oriented version of the standard Creta rather than a cosmetic exercise.
The changes are immediately noticeable. A satin-black cascading grille, sharp LED running lights, 18-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof give the N Line a more purposeful appearance. Inside, the sporty theme continues with a full-leather cabin, red stitching and oversized shift paddles, giving the interior a more upmarket feel.

The biggest change, however, is under the bonnet. The Creta N Line is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 117.5 kW and 253 Nm. On the road, the engine feels smooth and eager, with enough punch to make the N Line feel noticeably more lively than a conventional family crossover.
Fuel consumption averaged 7.6 L/100km during our time with the car, which is respectable given the performance on offer.

The main irritation is the lane-keep assist, which can intervene rather aggressively. Fortunately, it can be switched off.
At R569,900, the Creta N Line brings more than a sporty-looking exterior. Its turbocharged engine, sharper styling and well-equipped cabin give it a stronger performance character without losing the everyday usability expected from a compact crossover.
