The Jeep brand recently revealed the latest version of its Compass SUV. The newcomer is more capable, more stylish, and features more high-tech than ever before.

Bold New Look with Classic Jeep Design Cues

The design keeps classic Jeep features like the iconic seven-slot grille and chunky wheel arches, but adds a modern twist. New elements like scratch-resistant body protection and re-positioned sensors make it tough enough for off-road trails and smart enough for city driving.

Available in six nature-inspired colours, namely Hawaii (green), Pacific (blue),  Antarctica (white), Amazonia (brownish green), Yosemite (grey) and Vulcano (black).

    First Edition Launch

Jeep is kicking things off with a special First Edition version, available as either a hybrid or fully electric model. It comes fully loaded with premium features like 20-inch wheels, LED headlights, heated seats, and Jeep’s signature off-road protection.

An Interior Packed With Smart Tech

Inside, the Compass features a roomy and flexible cabin, now with more legroom, a bigger boot (up to 550 litres), and a clever 40/20/40 split rear seat. A large digital dashboard includes a 10-inch driver display and a 16-inch infotainment screen with built-in navigation, wireless updates, and Level 2 autonomous driving – all standard. Optional extras include a head-up display, massaging seats, Matrix LED lights, and even semi-automated lane changing.

    Powertrain Options

The new Compass offers a variety of powertrain options. These include a 145 hp (108 kW) hybrid (with electric assistance for better efficiency), 195 hp (145 kW) plug-in hybrid and fully-electric models with ranges up to 650 km. The top-spec all-wheel-drive electric version delivers 375 hp (280 kW) and charging up to 80% takes a claimed 30 minutes on a 160kW DC charger.

Even the front-wheel-drive versions come ready to handle tough terrain, with up to 200 mm ground clearance and impressive approach and departure angles. All-wheel-drive versions go even further, with extra clearance, off-road drive modes, and features like hill descent control.

    Availability

As of May 2025, Stellantis has not officially confirmed whether the next-generation Jeep Compass will be introduced to the South African market. The new Compass, built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, is set to be revealed in Europe in Spring 2025, with production commencing in Melfi, Italy.
