Chery South Africa has expanded its Tiggo SUV line-up with the introduction of the new Tiggo 8 APEX I, a seven-seat SUV that brings updated styling, additional comfort features and a comprehensive suite of safety technology.

The new Tiggo 8 APEX I is priced at R569,900 and is powered by Chery’s 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 137 kW and 275 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Chery claims fuel consumption of 7.7 L/100 km, and with its 57-litre fuel tank, the Tiggo 8 APEX I has a theoretical range of approximately 740 km between refuelling stops.

A sharper look

The Tiggo 8 APEX I receives a redesigned front fascia, with clean body lines giving the SUV a more modern appearance. LED headlights provide the front lighting signature, while a full-width LED rear light bar emphasises the width of the vehicle.

The exterior is finished off with 19-inch alloy wheels and is available in three colours: Khaki White, Carbon Black and Bamboo Grey.

Measuring 4,725 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,705 mm high, with a 2,710 mm wheelbase, the Tiggo 8 APEX I has a substantial footprint and is designed around a family-focused seven-seat cabin.

More technology inside

Inside, the Tiggo 8 APEX I features a dual-screen digital cockpit, a 50 W wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone climate control and 64-colour ambient lighting.

The front seats are electrically adjustable, with six-way adjustment and four-way powered lumbar support for the driver. Both front seats are heated and ventilated, while the front passenger seat adds a massage function and powered leg rest.

A rear-operated “Boss” button allows second-row passengers to adjust the position of the front passenger seat.

Other convenience features include a panoramic sunroof with an electrically operated sunshade and a power tailgate with smart-key operation.

Safety takes centre stage

Safety is another key part of the Tiggo 8 APEX I’s specification. The SUV comes with seven airbags, including side curtain airbags, along with tyre-pressure monitoring, an anti-theft alarm and a speed-limit reminder.

One of the more notable features is the 540-degree high-definition camera system. It combines a conventional 360-degree overhead view with an underbody perspective, giving the driver additional visibility when parking, navigating tight spaces or driving over uneven surfaces.

The SUV also features a range of advanced driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance.

Ownership package

The Tiggo 8 APEX I is backed by Chery South Africa’s ownership package, which includes a seven-year/200,000 km vehicle warranty and a five-year/75,000 km service plan.

The first owner also receives Chery’s 10-year/1 million km engine warranty.

It is additionally covered by Chery’s Trans-national Warranty Programme under the Chery Family Care umbrella, allowing customers to access warranty-related support at authorised Chery service centres across Chery’s global markets.
