Recently we spent some time with the new Peugeot 2008 GT Line which is good looking inside and outside. Standing out in the front is a large grille with a diamond effect, a carved bonnet and LED daytime running lights with a three claw and sabre tooth design that integrates into the bumper.

Class leading interior

Moving inside, the interior quality can easily be described as class leading. Peugeot’s i-Cockpit 3D is available and comes with a large touchscreen infotainment, digital instrument cluster and small steering wheel. These work well and are a marvel to look at (except the small steering wheel can obscure the instrument cluster). The car also offers decent space inside by segment standards.

Living with the Peugeot 2008

The Peugeot 2008 GT Line is powered by a 96kW and 230Nm 1.2-litre engine. After spending a bit of time with the new Peugeot 2008 at launch our assessment was that it is not here to just add numbers, it’s worth considering if buying in the segment. These impressions were only solidified when we got to test the 2008 GT Line over a longer period.

If you would like to be in something that stands out, you won’t miss the Peugeot 2008 with its stunning exterior design, two tone colour design, and LED daytime running lights with a three claw and sabre tooth design that integrates into the bumper.

The interior, again…

The car gets top marks for interior quality that can easily be described as class leading. Peugeot’s i-Cockpit 3D with a large touchscreen infotainment and a digital instrument cluster is worth a mention for its ease of use and good displays. The small steering wheel is the only negative aspect as it can obscures the instrument cluster.

The car also offers decent interior and luggage space by segment standards whilst the boot is pretty decent and a travelling party of four will not struggle for luggage space for a weekend away, if two occupants need to use the car, the rear bench can be folded down to extend the boot space.

Power and comfort

The 1.2-litre engine in the 2008 GT Line powered by a 96kW/230Nm 1.2-litre engine is fun to drive. It gets up to decent speeds quickly and doesn’t struggle to maintain them. Comfort and a well-insulated cabin also make a case for the new Peugeot 2008 SUV. Fuel consumption is a tad high for the segment, easily approaching 7.8L/100km on the highway but all things considered, this will not be a deal breaker.

Factors like looks, tech, comfort and decent pricing make a case for the Peugeot 2008 GT Line, and we would certainly recommend the Peugeot 2008 SUV if you are looking in the segment.
