All-new Opel Frontera unveiled – rugged style meets electric versatility

Opel is stepping into a bold new chapter with the reveal of the all-new Opel Frontera, a fun, spacious and cleverly packaged SUV designed to appeal to a wide range of drivers – from urban dwellers to adventurous families. Available in both fully electric and 48V hybrid guises, the Frontera offers a fresh take on the brand’s design language and continues Opel’s journey toward electrification.

    Frontera exterior

The Frontera wears Opel’s evolving design language proudly, with a bold and upright front fascia. A key highlight is the debut of the new Opel “Blitz” emblem, taking centre stage within the signature Opel Vizor grille. The blacked-out Vizor connects Eco LED headlights and sits above a trapezoidal lower grille.

Pronounced wheel arches, a strong C-pillar design and robust fenders further amplify its rugged appeal, while clever lighting elements – including a fresh take on Opel’s wing signature – add modern sophistication.

    Frontera interior

Inside, the Frontera offers a minimalist and digital-friendly cabin that blends style with practicality. The Pure Panel digital cockpit, which includes two 10-inch displays, takes centre stage, while the redesigned steering wheel and wide horizontal design elements add to the clean, spacious feel.

Clever touches include Opel’s Intelli-Seat technology that enhances seating comfort, especially on long road trips. There’s also a smartphone station that transforms your device into the infotainment hub, an optional cooled wireless charger, USB ports for both rows, and practical storage solutions with anti-rattle rubber linings. The seats are available in sustainable recycled fabric, keeping comfort and eco-consciousness in mind.

    Practicality

In addition, the new Frontera impresses with its loading capacity. With the back seats up, it already offers over 460 litres of luggage space in the boot – with the seats folded down, the capacity increases to up to 1,600 litres when folding its 60:40 split rear seats.

    Electric and hybrid powertrains

Buyers in Europe can choose between two electrified powertrains:

    A 48-volt hybrid with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with either a 74kW or 100kW outputs, supported by a 21kW electric motor and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

A battery-electric variant, offering over 300km of range (WLTP) on the base model and around 400km WLTP on the long-range version. Both powertrains benefit from Opel’s typical chassis tuning that promises confident road-holding and driving dynamics – even on the German Autobahn.

    Availability

The new Frontera is available in two trim levels – the standard Frontera and the more feature-rich Frontera GS. There’s no word yet on South African availability.
