Ford Racing has introduced the Mustang Dark Horse SC, a new high-performance addition to the Dark Horse line-up developed using knowledge gained from Ford’s global motorsport programmes. The model draws on experience from the Mustang GT3 and technology developed for the Mustang GTD, positioning it above the standard Dark Horse in terms of performance capability.

The Dark Horse SC features a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The drivetrain is supported by extensive upgrades across the chassis, suspension, braking and cooling systems, all aimed at improving track performance and durability.

Suspension changes include next-generation MagneRide dampers with revised hardware and software, firmer springs, new stabiliser bars and updated suspension components. A magnesium strut brace and forged suspension links are fitted to reduce weight and sharpen steering response. Rear suspension geometry and steering hardware have also been revised to improve overall handling balance.

Braking is handled exclusively by Brembo systems. Standard models feature six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers with cast discs, while the optional Track Pack introduces carbon-ceramic brakes derived from the Mustang GTD. The Track Pack also adds carbon-fibre wheels and bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, developed specifically for this application.

Aerodynamic updates focus on cooling efficiency and downforce. A redesigned front fascia improves brake cooling, while a vented aluminium bonnet aids powertrain cooling and aerodynamic management. At the rear, a revised diffuser and extended underbody panels contribute to improved airflow. Track Pack models gain a ducktail-style rear decklid and an updated carbon-fibre rear wing, producing up to 620 pounds of rear downforce at 180 mph.

Inside, the Dark Horse SC adopts a flat-bottom steering wheel inspired by the Mustang GTD, along with Alcantara and carbon-fibre trim. Track Pack models include Recaro sport seats and replace the rear seats with a storage shelf. A range of exterior graphics, brake caliper colours and interior accent options are available, including limited-run Track Pack Special Editions for the 2026 model year.
