Porsche has introduced the Cayenne S Electric, a new addition to its growing electric SUV line-up. The model slots between the standard Cayenne Electric and the flagship Cayenne Electric Turbo, bringing more power and performance to the range.

At its core, the Cayenne S Electric uses a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup that produces 400kW and 544Nm as standard. With Launch Control engaged, output temporarily increases to 490kW, allowing the large SUV to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds. Top speed is rated at 250km/h.

Power comes from a 113kWh battery, which Porsche says can deliver up to 653km of driving range on the WLTP cycle. When connected to a compatible fast charger, the battery can be topped up from 10 to 80 percent in under 16 minutes thanks to a peak charging capability of up to 400kW.

The drive system uses a permanent magnet motor on each axle, with the rear motor benefiting from direct oil cooling. According to Porsche, this system helps manage heat more effectively under sustained load while maintaining efficiency.

Visually, the Cayenne S Electric features model-specific front and rear aprons finished in Volcano Grey Metallic, along with 20-inch Cayenne S Aero wheels. Several performance-focused options that were previously reserved for the Turbo model are also available, including Porsche Active Ride suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes.

Another optional feature is Push-to-Pass, which briefly adds up to 90kW of extra power for 10 seconds. A dedicated Track mode can also pre-condition the battery for maximum performance during spirited driving.

Inside, Porsche is introducing a new Interior Style Package developed through its Exclusive Manufaktur division. The package pairs two-tone Black and Delgada Green leather upholstery with green accents across the stitching, steering wheel and dashboard. Decorative aluminium trim finished in Izabal Green further distinguishes the cabin.

Customers can also choose from 13 exterior paint colours and several interior combinations, allowing for extensive personalisation.

The Porsche Cayenne S Electric is now available to order, joining the brand’s expanding electric SUV range. Pricing and local availability for South Africa have not yet been confirmed.
