ISUZU Motors South Africa has introduced the updated MU-X range, bringing several changes focused on safety, driver assistance technology, convenience, and refinement.

The 2026 MU-X line-up continues to build on the SUV’s reputation for practicality, comfort, and off-road capability, while introducing new technology aimed at improving the overall driving experience.

One of the biggest updates comes in the form of expanded driver assistance systems. For the first time, ONYX XT derivatives now receive Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which can automatically adjust the vehicle’s speed to maintain a safe following distance.

Additional safety technology now includes Traffic Sign Recognition and an Intelligent Speed Limiter. Using the vehicle’s forward-facing camera, the system can detect posted speed limits and assist drivers in managing vehicle speed more effectively.

The ONYX XT models also gain a dedicated USB port integrated with the stereo camera system.

Under the bonnet, the 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine available in LS models has been refined for smoother power delivery and improved fuel efficiency, while outputs remain unchanged at 110kW and 350Nm.

The 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine continues unchanged across LS, LSE, and ONYX XT derivatives, producing 140kW and 450Nm. Both engines remain paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, with selected models available in either 4×2 or 4×4 configuration.

Across the range, all MU-X models now receive Headlamp Welcome Lights as standard. The feature illuminates the low beam and parking lamps when the vehicle is unlocked remotely.

The updated MU-X also retains several existing premium features, including a hands-free power tailgate on LSE models and above, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor on LSE and ONYX XT derivatives.

The range-topping ONYX XT continues with gloss black exterior accents, red ambient interior lighting, and XT badging.
