The new Jaecoo J5 Inferno makes a strong first impression with its bold front grille, boxy SUV styling, slim LED headlights and taillights, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels. Its distinctive design helps it stand out in the increasingly competitive compact SUV segment.
Inside, the cabin is modern and tech focused. A large 13.2-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard, complemented by an 8-inch digital driver’s display.

Other highlights include wireless smartphone charging, leather seats, and a massive panoramic sunroof that adds to the sense of space. Rear passengers enjoy good levels of comfort, and the 480-litre boot provides ample luggage space for daily errands or weekend getaways.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 115kW and 230Nm, paired with a CVT transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The engine delivers enough punch for everyday driving, while the CVT impresses with its smooth operation and refinement.

On the road, the J5 feels comfortable and composed, making it well suited to both city commuting and longer journeys. Jaecoo claims a fuel consumption figure of 7.5L/100km, and during our time with the vehicle we recorded a respectable 7.9L/100km.
At R479,900 the J5 combines eye-catching styling, a feature-packed interior, practical space, and a smooth driving experience, making it a compelling option for buyers looking for a modern compact SUV.
