Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled an updated version of the GLS 680, bringing a refreshed design, a more luxurious cabin and improved driving refinement to its flagship SUV. The updated model is expected to arrive in the United States later this year, with other markets likely to follow.

The most noticeable changes are up front, where the GLS receives a redesigned Maybach grille with an illuminated surround and, for the first time, an illuminated MAYBACH script integrated into the grille. Revised DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps with Rose Gold accents and new wheel designs complete the updated look.

Inside, Mercedes-Maybach has focused on comfort and technology. The cabin gains new upholstery and trim options, extended massage functions for both front and rear passengers, and an upgraded Burmester 3D Surround Sound system with 15 speakers. Additional insulation has also been added to further reduce road and engine noise.

The infotainment system now runs on Mercedes-Benz’s latest MB.OS software, featuring the newest MBUX interface, a redesigned Zero Layer home screen and an AI-powered virtual assistant. Over-the-air software updates will also keep the system current throughout ownership.

Power comes from an updated 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The electrified powertrain now produces 603hp and 850Nm, delivering more performance while maintaining the effortless character expected of a Maybach. A revised steering system also promises greater precision and improved composure on the road.

The SUV continues to offer AIRMATIC air suspension as standard, while Mercedes-Maybach’s optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL can adjust the suspension up to 1,000 times per second to maximise comfort and stability.

Mercedes-Maybach says the updated GLS 680 represents another step forward for its flagship SUV, combining enhanced luxury, the latest digital technology and effortless V8 performance in one of the most exclusive SUVs on the market.
